Biography

Born in Germany; taught for Dominican University (River Forest, Ill.) before coming to Benedictine. Began working for the University (then St. Procopius College) in 1970, teaching principles of economics, macroeconomics, microecononmics and public finance. Created the International Business program, the first of its kind in the Western suburbs. The new International Business and Economics major (IBE) was officially created in 1981. Advised and mentored the students in the IBE program, and started the annual newsletter.

In 1975, Dr. Roth and her husband Warren founded the People's Resource Center (PRC) in Wheaton, which provides basic needs (such as food, clothing, and technology and literacy trainig) for 3,500 families per month.

In 2000, former student Helen Myster (class of 1977) established the Dr. Margaret Roth scholarship fund to benefit students majoring in IBE.
